Overview

The Grain Manager/Brew Master is responsible for the daily operations of the Grain Restaurant; including the outlet, the rooftop terrace, and the Brew. This manager will be responsible for choosing and purchasing beer product, overseeing the inventory and storage of the product. This Manager will also be actively involved in merchandising the Grain’s signature growler.  The Brew Master will be passionate in educating the team about products and ensuring excellence in product and service delivery.  The Grain Manager promotes Associate engagement, retention, and development through effective and engaging leadership of the Grain’s Associates.

Responsibilities

Support a culture that promotes effective communications, service excellence, teamwork, performance feedback, recognition, mutual respect, and Associate satisfaction.

  • Hire, retain and mentor Grain Associates to execute a high energy, welcoming, safe and successful operation of the department.  Collaborate with assigned recruiters to determine and implement hiring guidelines and standards.
  • Schedule Associates to meet operational needs and maximize service while meeting the guidelines and labor expectations of the budget and business plan.
  • Actively engage in Associate development through ongoing performance coaching, feedback, annual evaluations, and talent development programs.
  • Drive guest experience through compliance with the operating plan and Associate training opportunities to include; service training, Corporate F&B training, brand training. Facilitate ongoing product education related to food offerings and brew style, history, process, flavor profile and pairings  
  • Drives guest satisfaction through brew and private dining menu creation and execution of service and quality standards. This is accomplished by ensuring menu design creates excitement through variety and seasonal rotation and creates a high value for price paid.
  • Complete daily review of guest feedback ensuring score meets or exceed company standard; adjusting or providing suggestions for revision as appropriate. Facilitate guest contact to acknowledge feedback, remedy service errors, and develop guest relationships to encourage repeat and referral business
  • Establish partnership with local brew makers and distributes to promote product launch opportunities.
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues in Support disciplines such as Human resources, IT, Sales & Marketing, Food and Beverage, Facilities, and Procurement & Cost Management to maximize the performance of the outlet.
  • Ensure that the outlet is set up for success through implementation and adherence to the operating plan; including SOPS and checklists.
  • Ensure guest safety and satisfaction though adherence to health department and company standards; including safe food handling and responsible alcohol service. Monitor safety and quality control measures.
  • Ensure that assigned assets are properly maintained and protected; through facility walks, QA inspections, execution of the established inventory process, Associate training on alcohol service, effective security of storage areas and coordination of a preventative maintenance program for equipment and area. Ensures proper Cash handling, and guest billing, including adhering to all divisional and departmental SOP’s and cash control procedures.
  • Manage the ordering process and internal requisitioning; including systems usage, to ensure food and beverage costs objectives are met.
  • Set short-term and long range goals in collaboration with Manager to ensure the achievement of the outlets defined performance metrics.
  • Practices responsible financial management of the department. Works with manager to develop department business plans and budgets, to accurately forecast financial performance and to deliver financial results in accordance with those budgets.

Qualifications
